issues commands to a number of PICs and Basic Stamp chips which perform

tele Robotics , via the customisation of cheap radio controlled toys such as
the 'Tomy Radio controlled car'. I have interfaced the 'tomy car's'
transmitter to my computers parallel port ,and I am at the moment
cannibalising another 'tomy car' to provide transmission of sensor
information back to the computer. The ' Tomy car' can be bought from boot
fairs for 3 to 6. email me if you want a copy of my interface diagram . I
have also just acquired a cheap laser pointer and have just had the idea of
utilising it on the front of the 'tomy car' for obstacle avoidance via
triangulation. I am presently working on a tele robotics design ,that
harnesses the processing power of a static computer utilising AI software
techniques. With the aim of giving my tele-robot some Intelligence. |

Robots
can be made with gyros for the "equillibrium balance", that the
advanced computers are having a hard time achieving. The cameras mounted on
the robot for taking approximately 25-60 pictures a second and then feeding
those images into the computer so it can find the center of a an object, or
get it's "bearings", is helped considerably, when you take away the
need for the computer to calcualate "balance" as far as it's
ability to stand up right. Do a search for "antigravity devices"
and you will find there are devices that have magnetic bases, above the
magentics base is a spinning gyroscopic magnet, the effect is that it
levitates with balance approximately 6 to seven inches obove the base,
considerable amount of disturbance is required for the magnet to fail in it's
gyroscoping balance purpose. Once this technology is put into the center of
the robot and amplified with electromagnets, the robot will have the ability
to "levitate just enough for the weight of the robot to be held up, and
if any changes in it's orientation are detected, simply turn up the juice
going to that base, or turn up the juice going to the spinning magnet, and it
will correct itself, now all you have to do is focus on movement going
forward and backward, turning, and then moving in derivations of those
directions, the gyro magnet will make sure you stay straight up. period. |

style wheely things and hexapods. My medium-term goal is to build something
that can be plonked down, will go exploring, and will never get stuck.
Actually I'd be prepared to answer questions on anything robot-related.. it's
just that I don't know much about AI, mechanics, or sensors! Also, my
knowledge of analogue electronics is far smaller than that of digital. |

Well I am
trying to start into robotics but it seems very difficult to start. Anyway I
love robotics in every sense and really hope that I get a chance to really
get into. The main area I suppose is the design of robotics with
microcontrollers (as I am most familiar with microcontrollers) Basically any
help that can be giving for a beginner (any theory or practical work
available) in this area is very badly needed. |

Strong
Background in programming (VB, C++, ASP, PBasic)combined with extensive
electroincs training while in the US Navy, led me to be interested in
developing robotics skills. My startup company (StarNet Computers) is
currently invovled in a project to create autonomous robot/RC hybrids. The
project, code named "RC Brain", takes a "best both
worlds" approach to integrating RC and Computer controled circuts into
off the shelf RC vehicles. We are currently using BASIC stamp II computers
and a plethora of customized circutry for the integration. I'd welcome a
discussion from anyone with similar interest who'd like to learn from what
we've done already or who has experience/information on infared
communications (ecspecially with the 3com palm pilot device). |
