I am mad of constructing robots especially for automation and for space applications. The deep of realms of vast space have fascinated me. I am also equally interested to do research in any field concerned with Robotics. I've planned to further my career leading to a masters in CAD/CAM & Robotics in the USA.

But as i'm very interested in this subject I was hoping to learn somethings from the other club members.

I'm currently at the end of my first year at college, (Maths, physics, graphics), Hoping to study Cybernetics + control eng. at Reading. I enjoy building small autonomous robots and experimenting with sensors for them, such as sonar, ir detection/ranging etc. I came across your site, and thought it might be a useful group to be a member of, as i'm always looking for others who share similar interests to share info with.
I agree with your recomendation of ICQ, i've been using it for quite a while, and it certanly makes things easier!

I have done an undergraduate level project to build a fully automated 6-axis articulated arm robot and have successfully automated it using only a low level microprocessor. I am interested in robotic applications to Industry and particularly in materials handling operations. I am a mechanical engineer and basically interested in the mechanical and practical application of robots. I would also like to know about the practical applications of artificial intelligence in industrial usage. I am only interested in practical applications even though I could be persuaded to dabble in theory.

So I am very interested in robotic, electronic and computer. I am a member of an electronic club in France.
I actually build the "brain" of my first robot. My choice is based on a 68hc11 circuit because I think it's a quite often used microcontroller.

Two related interests:
I bought several books and I'm trying to get to grips with Mobile Robots:Inspiration to Implementation.
I want to build some Rug Warrior types of robot. I'm looking for some type of club; electronics and/or

I'd also like to enter something into Robot Wars.
Yes, I know it should be called Waldo Wars or Teleoperated Battles or something; I don't care - I like to watch

An interest I maintain outside work (and which I would like to include in work) is the development of an autonomous robot vehicle.
The robot uses various types of tactile sensing and light intensity sensing to gather environmental information. One aim is to develop a very flexible and resilient multi-legged, segmented structure, capable of self-recovery and negotiation of uneven terrain. Currently I am modeling a PC simulation to develop a possible neural-net based control system. The intention is to develop a layered heierachy of capability allowing some learning capability.

I have always been interested in robotics, I created my own robot a few years ago, that was built and programmed on a Commodore 64. The most 'active' I have been over the last few years is that I have bought a few books and built some prototypes although I don't feel I have sufficient knowledge of how to start building my own robot. Most of my prototypes have been based on plans detailed in the Bonanza book of Robotic projects.
I am specifically interested in creating a robot and programming it \ controlling it via my PC.
I am currently an experienced Visual Basic developer (3 years commercial exp.) and am currently learning C \ C++ that I aim to apply to programming a robot. My aim is to build a robot that is controlled via a Visual Basic front end with a C \ C++ DLL that would communicate with the hardware.
